UAE free zones

Which free zones outside Dubai are worth checking: JAFZA, Ajman, Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain?

A neutral guide to free zones outside the usual Dubai names: JAFZA, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. What to check before you choose.

Short answer

JAFZA is in Dubai and suits goods and logistics. Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain are northern emirates with their own free zones. Choose by activity fit, visa quota, office needs, bank acceptance and renewal terms, and read each zone's official fee page before you decide.

Xillion Group UAE is a consultancy. It is not a licensing authority, a bank, a law firm, a tax adviser or an audit firm, and approvals are decided by the relevant authority. Regulated services such as tax, audit, legal drafting, VARA licensing and immigration filings are coordinated through licensed external partners. This page is general information, not legal, tax or investment advice, and nothing here is a guarantee.

Guide

Five checks before you choose

  1. Is your exact activity on the zone's list?
  2. How many visas can you get and at what total cost?
  3. Do you need a physical office or is a flexi desk enough?
  4. Will your bank accept a licence from this zone?
  5. What are the renewal and cancellation terms?
